    • College level 1 OR 2 in Health & Social Care OR equivalent.

      • To maintain all Care Plans/care records and audit care records in accordance with our Home's policies to ensure standards compliance.

      • Provide our residents with support/assistant as they accomplish daily tasks, including bathing, eating, dressing, grooming, and using the bathroom.

    • * Problem solving skills.

      • Adapt and address situations quickly.

    • * Communication skills.

      • Build rapport with Residents by establishing personal connections and showing genuine interest in their lives.

      • Liaise appropriately with all visitors and callers to our Home.

    o   Communicate effectively with staff to ensure that shifts run smoothly, making sure all work is carried out in an organised and efficient manner taking into consideration people’s preferences.

    • Previous experience in a similar environment.

      • E.g. working in a home care.

    • Previous experience in a similar role.

    • Previous experience of working with people who have additional support needs.

      • E.g. elderly people with dementia.

Your Duties

    • Personal Care Support: Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while maintaining dignity and respect.

    • Mobility Assistance: Support residents with moving safely around the home, including transferring from beds or chairs and using mobility aids where required.

    • Meal Support: Help residents during mealtimes, including assisting with eating and drinking when needed and encouraging good nutrition and hydration.

    • Monitoring Wellbeing: Observe and report any changes in residents’ health, behaviour, or wellbeing to senior staff or nurses.

    • Medication Support: Assist with or prompt residents to take medication in line with care home policies and training.

    • Emotional Support and Companionship: Provide reassurance, conversation, and companionship to help residents feel comfortable and supported.

    • Care Plan Implementation: Follow individual care plans to ensure each resident receives personalised and appropriate care.

    • Maintaining Records: Accurately document care provided and any relevant observations in care records.

    • Promoting Independence: Encourage residents to remain as independent as possible while offering the support they need.

    • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow safeguarding procedures, infection control guidelines, and health and safety policies at all times.

    • Assist with the induction of new starters in accordance with Ashfield Nursing Home’s policy.

    • Be polite and respectful in communication with staff, residents, or external visitors.

    • Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service.

    • Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service.

    • Promote the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of residents at all times. This includes maintaining an environment free from abuse, neglect, or harm.

    • Remain vigilant to any signs or indicators of abuse—whether physical, emotional, financial, sexual, or neglect.

    • Act in accordance with the organisation’s safeguarding policies and procedures. 

    • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals one supports.

    • Attend all statutory training, meetings and any others as directed by a manager.

    • Knowledge of, and work within, the Fundamental Standards.

    • Understand the regulatory framework that governs the service, including the role of CQC and their requirements.

    • Commit to achieving the relevant qualifications with the role.

    • Understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role.

    • Understand and follow all relevant risk assessments.
